President Trump Rescinds DACA

News of the scheduled repeal of DACA in six months is devastating to our community. You can be assured that LALDEF along with hundreds of other organizations around the country will fight as hard as we have ever fought for anything to get DACA reinstated and then to win real  immigration reform. Already legal advocates have filed suit to retain DACA, and some state Attorneys General have said they will also.

Here are two external resources for those affected by the repeal of DACA:

Updated information from our sources suggests that:

  • Effective immediately, no new, original applications will be processed at all.
  • If you wish to renew DACA that is set to expire in the next six months, you must do so by October 5, 2017, but highly recommend not waiting for the deadline if you are eligible to file sooner.

Keep in mind, this is preliminary information. Please check this page for periodic updates or call our office (609) 688-0881 to ask individual questions. We will offer open hours on Friday, September 8, 2017 for legal consultations. The fee is $35.
